After graduating from University in Bangladesh, I came to England in 2009 to do a post graduate degree at a London college. When I arrived in the UK, I lived in Ashford, Kent, where I met many new people who were so friendly, it made me question what I had been taught. When I met Christians, I assumed it was their religious teachings that encouraged them to welcome everyone they meet. This made me interested in finding out more about Christianity.
I had no copy of the Bible but used to read it online and soon started to fall in love with its teaching. One day at college, I met a Muslim who had converted to Christianity. He challenged my thinking about the Quran, showing me that, despite containing some good teachings, it was based on fear. Over the next 3 years, I continued to make new Christian friends who eventually invited me to attend a Christmas carol service in Ashford in 2012. I felt such a peace there that I had not known before. I started attending church more frequently, which helped me more than I could express, but it also made me wonder why I was still following Islam.
One day I saw Jesus Christ in a dream. He shook my hand and said He was very happy with me and advised me to stay with his disciples.
I finally made my choice to follow Jesus in December 2013. Becoming a Christian was the best
decision I had ever made, and I was warmly welcomed by many Christians who prayed God’s love and peace into me. One day I saw Jesus Christ in a dream. He shook my hand and said He was very happy with me and advised me to stay with his disciples. It was a truly wonderful meeting with Jesus Christ.
As I read the Gospels I realised they were the true way to live life. I saw that Jesus Christ had changed the world, not by force, but through his love, forgiveness, miracles and teachings.
Later, I met Ian, a friend who attends Gateway Church in Ashford and many other sincere Christians, who have prayed for me and become my friends. It was great to attend a vibrant Church, filled with the Holy Spirit. I really thank Jesus Christ for introducing me to this church.
Becoming a follower of Jesus has changed my life.
One of the church leaders, meets with me every month to read through the Bible together. Now when I look back, I am amazed at the change in me and the many new friends I have made. I have found a new life here. In June 2017, I was baptised in water, with 200 members from the church looking on and rejoicing with me.
Becoming a follower of Jesus has changed my life.
