PRAYER & FASTING
REGULAR PRAYER

Prayer at the Heart
We believe prayer is central to all we do, and we’d love you to join us. Every week we gather online from 6:30–7am on Tuesdays to pray for revival, and on Thursdays to pray through Scripture. This term we have a new online time added on Wednesdays from 5.30-6pm online. On Sunday mornings, we meet in person for prayer before our services, preparing our hearts together.

Prayer Weeks
Because prayer is central to all we do, we have three weeks of the year where we gather to pray daily, typically in January, April and September. Our next prayer week is 20th to 26th April.

Between 20th and 26th April, we are calling this ‘One Week – Every Street’, and as a church community we will be aiming to prayer walk every street in Ashford.

This week will culminate in a prayer meeting at the Riverside Centre on Sunday 26th April, from 7:45–9:00pm.

To help track your prayer walks, we will be using an app called ‘Prayer Walk’. If you do not have a smartphone or may find it difficult to access the app, please simply make a note of the streets you have prayed for and email the church office.

We would love people to complete these prayer walks in groups of two, three, or more. This is a wonderful opportunity to gather across generations, including people from our Pathways and those we regularly connect with.

Please see below for instructions on how to download and use the app:
-
Find the ‘Prayer Walk’ app in your app store and download it onto your phone.
-
Scroll down and select the ‘One Week – Every Street’ prayer walk option.
-
Register your details.
-
You will then see a map of Ashford. Click ‘Start Live Tracking’ to begin your prayer walk.
-
Streets highlighted in yellow, orange, or red indicate those that have already been prayer walked, so please try to focus on streets that have not yet been covered.
-
You can add prayer needs for specific streets by selecting the ‘Prayer Needs’ button on the bottom toolbar and pressing the ‘+’ button. Please ensure that you do NOT include any personal details (e.g. names or addresses).
-
The church has also provided some suggested prayer points for every street in Ashford. You can find these by selecting ‘Community’ on the bottom toolbar and then choosing ‘Challenges’.
We look forward to seeing all that God will do as we partner with Him in what He is already doing in our town!

FASTING

What is fasting?
The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God. Biblical fasting always involves eliminating distractions to focus on a spiritual purpose. It serves as a reset button for the soul, renewing us from the inside out. Fasting enables us to celebrate God's goodness and mercy while preparing our hearts for all that he wants to do in our lives. Your fast should challenge you, but it is crucial to understand your body, consider your options, and seek God's guidance in prayer, following the Holy Spirit's leading.
If you are on medication or have underlying health conditions, fasting from food or fluids may not be advisable. We strongly discourage fasting from all food and fluids entirely, except for brief periods during the day. Therefore, carefully consider the type and duration of fast you commit to, ensuring it aligns with both your spiritual goals and physical health.
