PAstoral care

Pastoral care is central in creating and building an environment where everyone can grow in their relationship with Jesus.

Acts 4:32–34 teaches the heart and purpose of pastoral care:

“All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them.”

CRISIS MOMENT?

Most pastoral care happens when we, as believers, love one another, meet each other's needs, follow Jesus together, and live in the Spirit’s power.

Sometimes when we hit a crisis we need 1:1 or specific care and help. In these moments, our pastoral care team offers support, guidance whilst encouraging personal responsibility for actions and change.

Some examples include:

  • Health crises

  • Financial hardship

  • Relationship breakdowns

  • Struggles with habits or harmful behaviours

GET
CONNECTED

Joining one of our Pathways and serving in a ministry are great ways to connect with others from across the church family. A first point of contact is sharing your needs with your group leader.

PRAYER ON

SUNDAYS

Our meeting pastors are always available to pray with you at the end of Sunday meetings.

PRAYER WORKS

Prayer Works is a place where you can meet with an experienced pastoral volunteer who will listen and pray with you. This is in person at the Riverside Centre, or online via Zoom. Appointments are available via the website and church office.

KEY LIFE EVENTS

If you attend Gateway we would love to be involved in key events in your life such as weddings, births, as well as bereavement. We believe big decisions and life events are best done in community where we can share wisdom and pray for you, as well as help practically if we can.

You can let your meeting pastor or any of the pastoral staff know about these kinds of events, and if you’re part of a group you can speak to your group leader so they can pray and support you through these moments.
