Why Give?

At Gateway we teach the biblical principle of stewardship. Everything we have belongs to God and we are only looking after, or are stewards of, what He has graciously given us. It is with this in mind that we encourage those who call Gateway their home to give regularly and generously in proportion to their income. It takes resources to fulfil all that God has given us to do so let's ask God what we can do to play our part in giving to the work of Gateway.

It is our practice to receive an offering at every Sunday meeting. However, many give directly from their bank account by regular Standing Order. Tithing (giving 10% of our income) is a commitment that many of us at Gateway have decided to undertake.

As mentioned above, we ask all those who call Gateway their 'home' to prayerfully consider the amount that they give regularly - and to review that sum as their situation may change. Responsible, joyful giving is one of the marks of a follower of Jesus!

Give out of what you have

We recognise that your personal circumstances will affect how you are able to give. If you are in a difficult time financially, please don’t feel under any obligation – we believe you should only give out of what you have (2 Cor 8:3). Feel free to ask for prayer on a Sunday or in your group, or to talk to a leader if you are struggling financially or with debt.

There are four main ways to give at Gateway:

  • By Car
Travelling from outside Ashford - from the M20 come off junction 9. Take the exit A20, Fourges Way. At the first roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Templer Way heading towards the A28. At the second roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Chart Road (A28). At the third roundabout take the 1st exit onto Brookfield Road. On Brookfield Road take the 2nd left onto Clockhouse, and take the first left. Follow the road to the end, and we are on the right.
  • By Bus
Catch any of these buses: A 1A 2 518 519 HS1 WS1 Then jump off at Brookfield Road or Leacon Road (near Matalan), and we are a 5 minute walk away.
  • By Train
Travel into Ashford International Station, exit via the domestic doors and either take a taxi, walk (guidance below) or turn left outside the building exit and walk to the bus stop (guidance above).
  • By Foot
We are a 25 minute walk from the train station and Ashford town centre, taking your route via the picturesque Victoria Park.
