Who's who - with Rachel

Updated: Mar 18, 2020

Rachel is one of the team members that looks after our Childrens group Rockets!

Favourite food: at the moment it’s probably a marmite and crisp sandwich (you either love

it or hate it!) followed by lemon meringue pie!

Place of work (or where you would like to work): I’m currently teaching ICT at the local

college to 16+ year olds. However, I did Economics at A level, and if I had my time again (and the confidence!) I would like to have been the first female Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Hobbies/past-times: I have introduced my family to board games, always a passion of mine! Scrabble, Catan or Colditz anybody? We are also into history so enjoy re-enactments and trips to English Heritage sites around the country.

Favourite book/TV programme: I loved reading the “Poldark” books by Winston Graham, so am very much enjoying watching the TV series at the moment. My favourite genre of TV is usually detective series.

Holiday destination: I’d like to visit Malta. My parents went many years ago and, with

Apostle Paul’s reference to the friendliness of the people, it sounds like a beautiful island.

People I would most like to meet: Nicky Cruz or C.S. Lewis. As a teenager I remember

reading “Run Baby Run” by Nicky Cruz, which was an eye opener and a book I have never

forgotten. “The Chronicles of Narnia” and “The Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis are true

masterpieces.

Favourite superhero: Thermoman (Ardal O’Hanlon plays the character very well) from My

Hero – a real life superhero!
