I now work at an accountancy firm, selling accountancy software. But how I got that job was a literal answer to prayer. At the end of September, my previous job was terminated out of the blue. I was a couple of weeks out of work, and then a friend at church prayed for me. He prayed such a faith-filled prayer, not only asking God to give me a job, but also to make it obvious within the next week which job I should take. (I had been for a few interviews, so had a few options available). That following week, I had a chat with someone in my church life group on Tuesday, on the Wednesday I had an informal interview, and by Thursday of that week I had a job offer!
And the fact that it all happened within the week following the prayer, felt like a sign to me.
What makes it even more amazing is this….! The person I spoke to in my life group, is new to our church. Two months previously, it was her first Sunday visit to Gateway for a while. At that meeting I made an announcement about starting up a new life group – and she decided to join it. ( I had originally intended to make the announcement the previous Sunday, when she wouldn’t have been there, but we ran out of time). I feel that the fact I made the announcement when she was there to hear it and so decide to join our life group, made the rest of what happened possible. In my mind, God had everything planned in advance, even down to the smallest details, setting in place a chain of events that allowed my prayer for a job to be answered that week. What an amazing faithful God! And it’s really cool having a Christian boss.
